About Me
Hi, I’m Dr Asya Barutcu.
I’m a health researcher and educator with a deep interest in how our behaviours, appetite, movement, and environment shape long-term health. I hold a PhD in exercise, appetite and energy intake, and I’ve spent years working with students, communities and individuals navigating conditions like Type 2 Diabetes, Obesity and Hypertension.
My work has always focused on helping people understand the why behind their health behaviours, not from a place of judgement, but from curiosity and compassion. I believe that when people truly understand what’s driving their habits, they feel more in control, more confident and more capable of making changes that last.
Right now, my focus is on sharing clear, accessible health information through Research, Translated, along with practical tools and gentle guidance designed to help you reflect on your own wellbeing.
Over time, Applied Health Lab will grow to offer personalised support, but for now, my goal is to build a space that feels human, thoughtful, and genuinely useful.
Outside of work, I’m a mum, a tea lover, and someone who understands firsthand how challenging it can be to prioritise your health when life is busy. That’s why this space exists, to make things feel a little clearer, a little kinder, and a lot more manageable.
If you’d like to explore more of my work, visit the Research, Translated section or join the mailing list for updates.
